A Summer Workshop in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute
This three day workshop will give you a chance to get out into Rothesay in search of beach, harbour and seaside inspiration on which to create your collagraph plates.
We will spend the first morning on Rothesay Promenade where the inspirational possibilities are endless. These include the fabulous Art Nouveau architectural details of the Winter Gardens, the renovated Victorian fountain and other street details, the bustling harbour with its mix of fishing boats, yachts, ferries and sea-related paraphernalia and the beach itself with its daily mix of flotsam and jetsum. And then there are the birds! Whatever floats your boat! You can make quick sketches (no drawing skills required) or take photos or a combination of both and beach comb for suitable found materials.
We will then return to the studio and in the following days transform your sketches, photos and ideas first into collagraph plates and then into fabulous, fresh-as-the-tide prints.
Immerse yourself in a long weekend of creative exploration on the stunning Isle of Bute, nestled off Scotland's beautiful west coast.
